Privacy Policy

Our Commitment To Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used.

Information We Collect

This notice applies to all information collected or submitted on the kstatecollegian.com, collegianmedia.com, royalpurpleyearbook.com, or other Collegian Media Group websites or apps. On some pages, you can sign up for email services, enter contests and polls, purchase merchandise from Collegian Media Group and/or submit content for online reader forums or printed letters to the editor. The personal information we may collect to provide these services include a name and an email address. For letters to the editor we also collect your telephone number, major and year, or other affiliation with the university. For purchases we, or our vendors, also collect postal address and credit card information necessary to fulfill your order. You can apply for staff positions on our websites, and if you do, we track the contact information and other personal-identifying information that you submit. We log the IP addresses of computers submitting comments to our online reader forums. We use cookies to manage polls and track advertising. We use Google Analytics to track traffic, which collects geo-location, including browser type and operating system. If we make available a service to register and create a profile, you also have the option to supply other types of personal information.

How We Use Information

We use the information you supply online only for purposes directly related to the service you are requesting. For example, if you sign up for emails, we will only use your email address to deliver that service. If you submit a letter to the editor we require your phone number and will only make telephone contact with you as part of our verification and editing process. If you enter a contest, we will only use your information provided to send you notices about the contest and its prizes.

We do not share or sell your personally identifiable information. Your information will not be used except by Collegian Media Group.

Information we collect will be disclosed only if we are legally required to do so. We may also use information we collect about users to verify or enforce compliance with the policies governing our website and applicable laws or to protect against misuse or unauthorized use of our website.

We use non-identifying and aggregate information to make decisions about our website and to share with advertisers. For example, we may tell an advertiser that X number of individuals visited a certain area on our website, or that Y number of men and Z number of women filled out our registration form, but we would not disclose anything that could be used to identify those individuals.

Finally, we never use or share the personally-identifiable information provided to us online in ways unrelated to the ones described above without also providing you an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.

We use a vendor to provide reprint services. If you order reprints, the vendor will collect your email address, postal address and credit card information necessary to fulfill your order. Your information will not be used for other purposes.

We use a third-party advertising company to serve some of the ads that support our website. Other third-party advertising companies may also go through this vendor to place ads on our website. These third-party advertising companies use cookies to serve these ads based on a user’s visit to our site and other sites on the Internet. The third-party advertising companies may use information (not including your name, address, email address or telephone number) about your visits to this and other website to provide advertisements about goods and services of interest to you.

Our Commitment To Data Security

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

Our Commitment To Children’s Privacy

Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. For that reason, we never collect or maintain information at our website from those we actually know are under 13, and no part of our website is structured to attract anyone under 13.

How Our Policy Is Communicated

We may change this policy without notice, but we will always have the applicable policy available through a link on our websites.
